Yes Bank Case accused Wadhawan Brothers released from quarantine facility, CBI’s arrest impending

Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan were detained on April 9th for a 14-day quarantine period at St Xaviers High School, Panchgani after they were caught violating the coronavirus lockdown at a farmhouse with 23 others by driving 180 km from Khandala to Mahabaleshwar for a holiday. Now the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to arrest the brothers, however, the court has put a stay on the non-bailable warrant till May 5. A court will tomorrow hear ED’s petition seeking cancellation of bail because they violated the bail conditions.

CBI and Enforcement Directorate(ED) have been summoning the brothers since March 7 when a case was registered against them on finding the link between Yes Bank and Deewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL), where they are the promoters, but they have been refusing to appear for questioning stating the reason to be the spread of coronavirus. It has been alleged that DHFL received Rs 3,700 crore of investment in exchange for paying Rs 600 crore as bribe to firms related to family members of Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor.
