The United States intelligence agencies report concludes that the novel covid-19 virus was not man-made or genetically modified. The president of the US, Donald Trump has according to reports asked officials to investigate if the virus was manmade in a Chinese lab. The report of the virus not been modified or man-made was given by the office of the Director of national intelligence.
The agency gave their report on Thursday. According to the report “The entire intelligence committee has been consistently providing critical support to US policymakers and those responding to the covid-19 virus, which originated in China”. Trump has suggested that Beijing was not been honest about the virus claiming that “we are not happy with China”, the president has sent spies to find out about the origin of the deadly virus.
The intelligence agencies responded, “the intelligence community also concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the covid-19 virus was not man-made or genetically modified”. The agency also confirmed that they will continue to do proper investigation concerning the spread of the virus “Determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or if it was a result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan”.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, President Trump said he had seen evidence which made him believe the virus evolved from a scientific lab in Wuhan. Scientists have also said there is no indication the virus was manipulated. Globally the deadly virus has claimed thousands of lives and infected millions. Beijing has denied that the virus evolved from their lab. The secretary of state in the US Mike Pompeo has said however that he has not seen evidence that the virus was modified or man-made.
