Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2: Indian 2, also known as Indian 2: Zero Tolerance, is an upcoming Tamil vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar, who collaborated on the screenplay with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar. The film is a joint production of Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies.
In the sequel to Indian (1996), Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante battling corruption. Joining him in the ensemble cast are Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, and Nedumudi Venu.
Indian 2 was announced in September 2017, with Sri Venkateswara Creations initially involved, but they withdrew a month later. Lyca Productions subsequently took over production duties. Principal photography began in January 2019 and unfolded intermittently over a span of five years, concluding by March 2024. Filming faced setbacks in 2020 due to a tragic accident that claimed several crew members’ lives and the ensuing two-year delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, until Red Giant Movies joined as co-producers.
