CM Manish Sisodia says, ‘Delhi may see 5.5 lakh cases by July 31’

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday 9th of June confronted to the public that there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Delhi yet however he added: “It estimated that there might be 5.5 lakh coronavirus cases in the city by July 31”. Delhi will need 80,000 beds by July end, he told reporters after a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Lt Governor Anil Baijil chaired the meeting, Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also took part in the decision pondering meet.

Mr Baijal also took to Twitter to state his advisory “timely action” regarding the ramping up of physical infrastructure and human resource-related requirements “considering possible scenarios.” The LG stated he had also given directions for thorough contact tracing of affected persons and testing as per ICMR guidelines for COVID-19 “without any deviation.”

So far Delhi has recorded the highest spike of 1,513 cases recorded on 3rd June with a recovery rate of 37.92%. The national capital has total 27,654 cases 10,664 recovered and 761 deaths so far. Till now more than 2.56 lakh coronavirus cases have been reported in India with a total number of deaths at 7,135 per government data. India is the fifth worst-hit nation by the deadly virus in the world.
